Mission
The mission of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office is to protect and serve the citizens of Butte County by providing vigorous, ethical, efficient law enforcement and to increase public awareness of personal safety and security measures. We will provide humane custody and care for those incarcerated in the County Jail.
In order to accomplish this mission, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office will encourage professionalism through improved communication and by providing continuous and productive training. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing a secure and comfortable work environment in which employees are encouraged to take pride in their work and strive for excellence. Upon appointment to a position within the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, every member of the agency signs an oath acknowledging a commitment to support, defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California. By providing service that comports with and ensures the rights and privileges guaranteed by the Constitutions of the United States and the State of California, employees uphold their oath of office.

Ethical conduct by members of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office is rightly expected by the Sheriff and the public and is paramount to establishing legitimacy in the exercise of the authority granted to members of the department.
